She was also working on her master's degree at Kent State University. Mrs. Matejka, 51, of Twinsburg, died Sunday at her home. She had brain cancer. She was born in Cleveland and, after graduating from college, taught in the Cleveland schools for two years. She was self-employed as a baby-sitter when her children were young, then taught at St. Barnabas Catholic School in Northfield from 1979 to 1990. Mrs. Matejka enjoyed baking, horseback riding, swimming, doing needlepoint and reading. She is survived by her husband of nearly two years, George S.; daughters, Susan M. Morit of Columbus and Jean M. Owens, who moved home to care for her mother; son, Joseph C. Owens of Sagamore Hills Township; her parents, Thomas and Julia Yahnert of Cleveland; a grandchild; and a sister. Her first husband, George J. Owens, is deceased. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 9451 Brandywine Rd., Northfield. Arrangements are being handled by Ferfolia Funeral Home in Sagamore Hills Township.
