      NEWELL - Ruth E. Burch, 83, of Newell, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010.

      She was born Jan. 22, 1927, in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late James McMullen and Anna (Haynes) Peck McMullen.

      Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Wells High School.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Peck, Charles Peck and Walter Peck; and three sisters, Clara Harley, Helen McMillan and Betty White.

      Ruth is survived by her husband, James "Turk" Burch, whom she married Nov. 26, 1948; a daughter, Sherrie (Vince) McGeehan of Lebanon, Ohio; a son, Carl R. Burch of Newell; three grandchildren, Erin (Scotty) Porter of Chester, Sheena (Kyle) Custer of Maryland and Conor McGeehan of Ohio; and a great-grandson, Zachary Porter.

      Friends will be received on Friday, May 21, 2010, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, with Minister Dennis Arnold officiating. The interment will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool.
