Alma L. Shutts, 91, of Parkersburg died March 9, 2007, at Sunbridge Care and Rehab Center after an extended illness.
She was born in Halifax County, Va., a daughter of the late Norman and Annie (Wilburn) Link.
Alma was a loving homemaker and, along with her late husband Ken, owned and operated Shutts Grocery in south Parkersburg for many years. She was a 60-plus year member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, and was a patron life member of the OVU Stepping Stones.
Surviving are three daughters, Hope Shutts Hawkins and her husband, Glenn, of Massillon, Ohio, Judy Shutts Hughes and her husband, Ronnie, of Waverly, Tenn., and Melva Shutts Farris and her husband, Gary, of Parkersburg; two sisters, Lucille Turner and Virginia Dunn of Alton, Va.; a brother, Earl Link of Alton, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ken Hawkins, Adam Hawkins, Ronald Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Alma Lee Barnes, Melinda Lee Radar and Lewis Lee; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dorcas Stanley of Belpre.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Shutts in 1997, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Camden Avenue Church of Christ, Parkersburg, with Evangelist Glen Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services at the church.
