Amos 'Jim' Finley
ERIE - Amos "Jim" Finley, 70, of rural Erie passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1937, in Elizabeth, Ark., the son of Clifton D. Finley and Tressie A (Comstock) Finley.
The family moved to Charleston, Mo., in 1944 and he lived there until going into the United States Army in 1955, serving in Battery A of the 267th Field Artillery and being stationed in Babberhausen, Germany. In 1959 he married Trula Waltermire and she survives of the home.
Their children are a son, Terry L. Finley of Stark; two daughters, Teresa Lea Kephart and her husband, Sam, of Yucaipa, Calif., and Rebecca May Davied and her husband, Mike, of Arma; children from a previous marriage is a daughter, Melinda Wall and son, Alvin Dale Watwood, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Cole Kephart, Kelsey Wilson, Khristen Dwyer, Aaron Finley and David Wall; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Tressie Finley, of rural Erie; a sister, Hazel Perry of Columbia, Mo.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Finley; a brother, Neal Finley; a sister, Lillian Faye; a granddaughter, Kristina Wall; and a niece, Donna Kay Perry.
Jim spent most of his adult years driving and retired from Ruan Transport in 1990. He also had livestock and enjoyed working on CAT dozers. He enjoyed being with his family and working on the farm.
He was cremated and he requested no formal services be held. A family ceremony will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Hope Bible Baptist Church that he attended or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
