Helen M. Pierre (nee Egler), 83, of Westlake, died Thursday at New Life Hospice Residential, Center in Lorain after a short illness.
Born in Cleveland, she lived in Pepper Pike before moving to Westlake. A homemaker, she did secretarial work in several offices. She was a former member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland Heights and Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls.
Since moving to Westlake, she attended Grace Church of North Olmsted. Mrs. Pierre enjoyed reading the Bible and reading books about theological issues She also enjoyed creative writing, composing letters and poetry for friends and relatives, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons Ronald of Oberlin, Gene of University Heights and Marty of Westlake seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Enea M. Pierre, her parents, Katherine (nee-Stuhler)and Martin Egler; brothers Martin, Ernest and Karl Egler; and a sister, Hilda Kreiger.
Memorial services will be 7 pm. Tuesday at Grace Church of North Olmsted, 4816 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted. The Rev. Tom Brown, pastor, will officiate. Private graveside services will be Tuesday at Crown Hill Cemery in Twinsburg. Memorials may be made to Grace Church of North Olmsted; Listen Funeral Home, formerly the Busch-Bogner Family Chapel, 1403 Center Ridge Road, Northridgeville, is handling arrangments.
